A Lewes teen died June 4 following a single-vehicle crash in Bridgeville.
Police said Kensley Ramirez-Ramirez, 17, was driving at 9:05 p.m. southbound on Oak Road south of Apple Tree Road when she passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone. Police said Kensley was driving at an apparent high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The Toyota Sequoia she was driving exited the west side of the road, and she was ejected. Police said Kensley was not restrained.
She was taken to an area hospital where she died. A 4-year-old passenger, who was properly restrained in a child safety seat, was taken to an area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.
The roadway was closed while the scene was investigated and cleared.
Delaware State Police ask anyone who witnessed or has information about the crash to contact Sgt. A. Mitchell at 302-703-3269; send a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police; or contact Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333.
