Lewes urged to change street name

January 3, 2020

The following letter was sent to Lewes Mayor Ted Becker, with a copy submitted to the Cape Gazette for publication.

Dear Mayor Becker,

We write to you in support of changing the name of 4th Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.  Fourth Street has always been a significant part of the Lewes African-American community, and in recognition of that fact we endorse this name change.  Many cities have already created a Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (or street, etc.) and it is time for Lewes to do the same.
