Lewes woman pleads guilty in records tampering

A Lewes woman has pleaded guilty to two charges of tampering with public records after police say she submitted fraudulent applications for medical marijuana.

Carolan Krajewski, 37, was sentenced to a year’s probation after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree tampering with a public record and a count of second-degree tampering with a public record. The former is a felony, while the latter is a misdemeanor; a first-degree charge implies that the accused knowingly attempted to defraud someone.

If she violates her probation, Krajewski would serve two years in prison. She must also pay restitution, still to be determined by Delaware Superior Court, and must forfeit all records and office equipment seized, have no contact with former patients, and cannot participate, own, or be employed in a facility involved with medical marijuana.

Delaware State Police began investigating Krajewski when they received reports of fraudulent activity at Krajewski’s business, Disjointed, on Wescoats Road in Lewes. Police determined that medical marijuana applications submitted for patients had fraudulent signatures in the physician section.

Upon investigation, police found no patients had been seen by the physician whose name was forged, and that Krajewski, also known as Carolan Fischer, had dealt with all the patients.
