A Lincoln man faces charges Dec. 11 after police say he hit a woman and slammed her head against a table.

Delaware State Police went to a home at 12:30 a.m. on Bogan Drive, Lincoln, for a report of an assault, and learned Abel Ramirez-Lopez, 26, had argued with a 25-year-old female acquaintance, which escalated into a physical altercation, said Sr. Cpl. Jason Hatchell of the Delaware State Police. During the incident, Hatchell said, Ramirez-Lopez struck the woman in the face several times before slamming her head against a table. The woman sustained a laceration and injuries to the head from the incident, and she was treated at an area hospital. Ramirez-Lopez was taken into custody at the scene by responding troopers. There were four children present in the residence, none of whom were injured, Hatchell said.

Abel was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 2 and charged with felony second-degree assault, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $14,000 cash bond.
