Delaware State Police are searching for a vehicle after they say it struck and killed a Lincoln man Nov. 5 as he walked along Route 9.
Jamal L. Woodlin, 49, was walking eastbound on the shoulder of the roadway at 6:34 a.m. when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Route 9, just west of Old Furnace Road, failed to negotiate the curve in the road and drove onto the shoulder, striking Woodlin with the right front, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. The impact projected Woodlin down an embankment where he landed in a shallow ditch. The vehicle did not stop for the collision, Pepper said.
Woodlin was pronounced deceased at the scene. A possible vehicle involved in the collision is a white Ford E-Series van with right front damage, Pepper said.
The roadway was closed for about five hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit asks anyone who has information in reference to this crash to contact Detective Andrew Mitchell at 302-703-3267.
