Lions Walk for Sight to step off in Dewey Beach April 28

April 3, 2019

The 16th Annual Lions Walk for Sight, sponsored by the Delaware Eye Institute and the Delaware Lions Foundation, is planned for 1:30 p.m., Sunday, April 28, at the Dewey Beach Lions Club House, 115 McKinley Ave., Dewey Beach.

Lions club members from throughout Delaware will be joined by Leo Club members, Lioness members and supporters. Registration opens at 12:30 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available for those who have registered, whether they participate in the walk or watch and enjoy the day.

Participation in the walk and funds raised support the mission of Delaware Lions Foundation, to support the Lions Clubs of Delaware in their humanitarian service to the citizens of Delaware.

Money raised provides resources for the foundation to offer matching grants to Lions, Lioness and Leo clubs in Delaware to assist needs in local communities. Previous grants have assisted in the purchases of a minivan lift for a physically disabled child and optical assist readers for low-vision people, support for preschool vision screenings to check young children for eye diseases, and funds for needed eye surgeries.

For walk applications, go to www.delawarelionsfoundation.org. Completed applications may be sent in advance with checks payable to Delaware Lions Foundation, P.O. Box 393, Camden, DE 19934. Applications and donations also may be brought to the registration table on walk day.
