Lit fans turn out for ‘Aurora’ book launch

August 14, 2018

Devil’s Party Press of Milton celebrated the release of its fourth literature anthology, “Aurora” Aug. 3, with a live reading event and book signing at the Suburban Farmhouse in downtown Milton.

"The Aurora book release party was our most successful book launch to date," said DPP publisher Dianne Pearce, who also oversees the Milton Workshop writing group. Pearce said, "Unlike our previous anthologies, which were largely limited to contributions by members of the Milton Workshop, we opened Aurora up to authors from across the globe who are over age 40 (since DPP specializes in publishing authors ages 40 and older). In addition to our wonderful Delaware authors, ‘Aurora’ includes contributions from writers residing in Maryland, Chicago and even the UK."

Aurora contributors from Milton, Rehoboth and Salisbury, Md., performed live readings from the anthology as well as other works. Milton percussionist David Downing provided music before and after the event. Readers included: Aurelio Grisanty, who also provided the Aurora cover art, Judith Speizer Crandell, Tara Elliott, William Crandell, Carrie Sz Keane, Linda Federman and TJ Lewes. The event included a brief open-mic session.

DPP will host a follow-up reading event Friday, Sept. 7, to feature additional “Aurora” authors who were unable to perform at the inaugural launch. Rehoboth singer-songwriter David Ara is scheduled to perform.

“Aurora” includes short fiction, poetry and essays. The paperback retails for $9.99  and is available locally at Browseabout Books of Rehoboth Beach and other select area vendors. To purchase online, go to www.amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com.
