Local author Hiba Melhem Stancofski to sign books Jan. 2

December 21, 2021

Hiba Melhem Stancofski, a 500-hour certified yoga and mindfulness teacher, will be signing books from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 2, as part of the local author series at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.

Stancofski, along with local illustrator Timothy Bada, published “I Feel Better Now,” an illustrated children’s book, in spring 2021. It introduces children to the tools of mindfulness and yoga. Through her young characters, Stancofski clearly portrays the challenges everyone has been facing during the pandemic, and shows how simple practices of breath and movement can help people more comfortably navigate overwhelming emotions and life hardships.

Stancofski visited several schools in Delaware during the spring and fall, reading her book to students and introducing the skills of yoga and mindfulness in a playful way.

In early December, Stancofski was a guest author at the book fair and author signing event at the French American School of New York in Larchmont, N.Y.

Her goal is to plant the seed and arouse curiosity in students’ minds about what mindfulness and yoga practices are all about, and how these accessible practices can help them cope with difficult emotions more easily throughout their lives.

“I Feel Better Now” is available locally at Browseabout Books and SoulFire Yoga Studio in Rehoboth Beach; at Kids’ Ketch, Surf Bagel and Involution Yoga Studio in Lewes; and online through Amazon.com.

Browseabout Books is at 133 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
