Local inventor Jennifer Schultz patents Sand Slider Beach Caddy

Two-sided caddy eases transport over pavement, sand
February 9, 2019

Hauling toys, towels and chairs to the beach could get a lot easier, thanks to a new product designed by local inventor Jennifer Schultz.

Schultz said she was trying to think of a better way to transport her beach supplies when she came up with the idea for the Sand Slider Beach Caddy. “Wagons with wheels don’t work once you get on the sand,” she said.

So, Schultz designed a caddy with a roller on one side for pulling on the pavement. When beachgoers reach the sand, they can flip the caddy over onto its rounded, smooth side for sliding over the sand.

Schultz said she has patented the design and is working with a marketing company to license and manufacture the product, so it can be sold locally. She plans to offer several sizes of the caddy: one for a single child, a larger one for two people and a third, family-sized caddy.

Caddies will open like suitcases to store supplies inside. Beach chairs can be stacked against the handle, and an umbrella can be inserted into rings along the caddy’s side.
