Logan Shuttleworth receives Lefty’s October Young Citizen Award

November 30, 2017

Cape Henlopen High School senior Logan Shuttleworth celebrated with friends recently at Lefty's Alley & Eats after receiving the October Young Citizen Award.

Lefty's established the award to recognize and reward individuals who exhibit the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and character in their homes, schools and communities. Each month, Lefty's selects one area senior to receive a lane-side party for 10 at Lefty's to celebrate their achievement. Each monthly recipient will be considered for a $1,000 scholarship which will be awarded in May 2018.

Shuttleworth was selected for her compassion and understanding toward fellow students, and her appreciation for civic responsibility. "Logan was a no-brainer this month," said Jennifer Gooner, director of operations. "She always has a positive attitude and has a strong sense of civic responsibility. I don't think we could have started out the year any better than with Logan."

Shuttleworth is a second-team all-state volleyball player and recently began her last season on the basketball team. She plans to major in biology at West Chester University and hopes to launch a career in pediatric occupational therapy.

Any area seniors who exhibit strong leadership in their schools and community are encouraged to apply for Lefty's Young Citizen Award and Scholarship.
