Lois Mae Sheetz, civically active

Lois Mae Sheetz, 84, of Malvern, Pa., died Monday, July 13, 2020.

 She retired from the Great Valley School District in 1999 after 42 years as a cafeteria worker.  Although she started part-time, she ultimately became the cafeteria manager at General Wayne Middle School in Paoli, Pa., for the last 30 years of her career. Lois worked outside the home for most of her married life, while still raising and being very involved with her four children.  She was also civically active.  She was a member of the ladies auxiliaries of the V.F.W. and the American Legion, both in Paoli.  She served as a Girl Scout leader for all the years her daughters were involved, including, Brownies, Girl Scouts and Junior Girl Scouts.  She was a Sunday School teacher at Malvern United Methodist Church for over 15 years. 

She liked cardinals, a good cup of coffee, generous conversation and cooking at school and home for those she loved.  She also enjoyed the times spent in Lewes, where she and husband Jim purchased their first summer home in 1963.

Lois was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Elsie Helms; her husband of 66 years, Jim; and her son, Jamie.  She is survived by three daughters:  Bonnie Vaughn (Jerry) and Terry Sheetz (Ben), of Malvern and Vicki Davis (Ralph) of Lewes; three grandchildren: Neil Vaughn (Andrea), of West Grove, Pa., Kyle Vaughn (Jen), of Malvern and Abigail Davis of Lewes; and four great-grandchildren: Gennie and Jake Vaughn of West Grove, Pa., and Sophia and Ava Vaughn of Malvern.
