Looking forward to Chrzanowski, Garlow on board

August 6, 2019

Gary Glass’ letter (July 26) about his concerns for transparency in Rehoboth Beach made me laugh out loud. Gary is a FOS (Friend of Sam [Cooper, former longtime mayor]). Gary’s letter referred to a FOIA complaint he filed with “others” - one of the others was Sam Cooper, so let’s be clear about his alliances. You will see them sitting at public meetings, cross-armed, next to each other. There was never a less transparent office than that of Sam Cooper’s Rehoboth. I know this from a FOIA request I filed and never did receive even after being assured of its imminent arrival for almost five months, requiring me to file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office. I do not long for those days to return.

Edward Chrzanowski, on the other hand, is a breath of fresh air and the president of Rehoboth Main Street, which is concerned with creating and maintaining a thriving downtown. It’s been great seeing long-empty storefronts filled with wonderful new businesses. Edward is also committed to creating a culture of respect in our community, as well as being hyper-focused on the city’s financial condition, both present and future, and being proactive on climate change as well.

Charlie Garlow is concerned primarily with the environment, trees, and how climate change will affect our coastal town. His work experience in the public sector in this area definitely gives him the upper hand. He is also committed to creating a respectful environment in our town. For these reasons, I am voting for him as well (bonus points for his adorable dogs and his juggling and banjo-playing abilities – who doesn’t want a juggling, banjo-playing commissioner?).

I look forward to both of their positive attitudes on the board of commissioners.
