Lora Lewis Flowers, retired civil servant

March 31, 2021

Lora Lewis Flowers, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Dec. 13, 2020.
Lora was born May 3, 1950, to Edward and Elizabeth Lewis of Essex, Md., where she grew up.  In 1968 she graduated from Kenwood High School and soon after, she got married and started a family with a move to Harford County where she also began working as a civil servant at Aberdeen Proving Ground.  After a successful career of 35 years as a U.S. civil servant, she retired as a supervisory human resources specialist and spent her later years in Millsboro.
Lora was a hard worker, loyal friend and mentor to those she held close. She liked working in her yard or being on the beach, but most of all, she loved any time she got to spend in the company of her friends and family.
Lora leaves to cherish her memory her son, Mark (Ginni) Pippen, and two grandsons, Zachary and Andrew Pippen; as well as her three sisters, Betty (Sterling) Rineman, Gale (David) Lewis and Shirley (Fred) Hermann.  She also leaves four nieces: Tracey Williams, Dawn Williams, and Rebecca and Sarah Hermann; and four nephews: Jason, Matthew and Andrew Rutherford and Daniel Hermann; as well as several great-nieces and -nephews. Lora is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Carlisle and Elizabeth Olivia Lewis.
Per Lora’s request, her family will hold a Celebration of Life service.  This event will be held Saturday, May 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at American Legion Post 47, 501 Saint John St., Havre de Grace, Md.  Please contact her son, Mark Pippen, at pippen112798@gmail.com with any questions, comments or concerns.  The family hopes you will come join them in celebrating this wonderful woman.
