Love Creek students mark Pi Day

April 20, 2020

Karen Warner’s fourth-grade math students at Love Creek Elementary marked Pi Day by measuring the circumference of items in the classroom.

Pi Day, an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π, is observed on March 14 since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant digits of π, or 3.14

Warner passed out cups, pots, mayonnaise jars and other items with circular shapes. Students learned the circumference of a circle is equal to pi multiplied by the diameter of the circle; after measuring the circumference, they divided it by pi to determine the diameter.
