The Lower Sussex Pat Knight major squad used nine hits to score nine runs and powered to a 9-0 win in a rain-shortened championship game at Georgetown Little League.
Lower Sussex got off to a fiery start, scoring four in the bottom of the first and four more in the second. The squad finished the rainy game with one more run in the third.
Jace Futrell and Matthew Namorato led the Lower Suseex squad with two RBIs each. Jayce Marvel, Layne Creppon and Brandon Hudson each drove in a run.
Marvel went the distance on the mound, only allowing three hits while striking out five batters.
“I feel incredibly blessed to have coached such an amazing group of young athletes," said Lower Sussex manager Jay Futrell. "Watching them grow, compete and ultimately win this tournament is a memory I’ll cherish forever.”
Nash Dondarski had two hits for Milton. Ryker Crenshaw had a single.
Preston Steele started on the mound for Milton, striking out four batters.
"Obviously this isn’t the outcome we envisioned," said Milton manager Rich Dondarski. "This team came together on short notice and only had a handful of practices together. I had a blast coaching this great group of boys. They practiced hard and worked to get better each day. They competed and played till the end, but what makes me as a coach proud is the great sportsmanship they showed when not getting the result we wanted."
