Lunch with a Purpose launches new season of charitable support

September 23, 2021

Lunch with a Purpose kicked off its 15th season Sept. 8 at Baywood to support the Rehoboth Art League’s Outreach Program. Participants gather monthly for lunch from September until May to raise funds and increase awareness for local charities.

In response to ongoing cuts to arts education in public schools, this RAL program runs all year to help groups of at-risk youth, nursing home seniors and developmentally challenged adult populations. It encourages underserved communities to engage with the arts in Sussex County. Donations were also gathered to support the Harry K Foundation, the Community Food Rescue Program and the Cancer Support Community’s Pink Affair.

Luncheons are held at a different venue the first Wednesday of each month, and each supports a different Sussex County charity. All monies collected stay in Sussex County, and funds go directly to the charity. Other 2021-22 causes include Friends of Rob Scheer Comfort Cases, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware, Champions for Children’s Mental Health, Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding, What Is Your Voice, Children’s Beach House, West Rehoboth Children and Youth Program, and Village Volunteers. Find Lunch With a Purpose/Coastal Delaware on Facebook to be included in the contact list.
