Watching the candidates’ forum it was very clear that Rachel Macha and Hugh Fuller see Rehoboth with eyes to a positive, bright future. Hugh has a long history in a successful business that has always been a colorful asset to our downtown. He talks to people and listens to ideas and concerns, and looks for ways to improve the city for residents as well as tourists. Rachel comes with a strong history of serving the city on the planning commission and brings her business experience as well being a resident here. Rather than longing for the “old days,” both Rachel and Hugh speak in optimistic terms about what this city can be. Charming, but modern and meeting current creative needs of residents, property owners, businesses, civic organizations and vacationers. I urge you to vote for Rachel and Hugh for commissioners who will serve Rehoboth professionally and with respect for all.
Mayor Paul Kuhns inherited a city with long-neglected problems, and he moved forward quickly to obtain input from residents, businesses, organizations on solutions. He made difficult decisions and accomplished a great deal on a wide variety of issues - wastewater, trees, recycling, parking, a new theater, a canal dock - early in his term. Paul has a positive view for the future of our city as a prosperous, beautiful and welcoming place to live, work, vacation, and conduct business.
And since spring Paul has handled the COVID-19 pandemic in a professional, serious way, taking into account the best advice of scientists, medical experts and the governor. He and the commissioners have met regularly to discuss necessary steps to level the curve here in our beach community. I have particularly appreciated the constant communication from the city about the status of cases and necessary precautions. I have confidence that under Paul’s leadership all of Rehoboth’s residents, businesses, organizations and tourists will get through these difficult times healthy and safe. I encourage you to vote for Paul Kuhns for mayor of Rehoboth Beach.
