Macha thanks Rehoboth Beach citizens

August 14, 2020

I would like to thank the Rehoboth Beach citizens that voted for me for Rehoboth Beach commissioner.  And, many thanks to my husband, Rich, our five awesome kids, neighbors, friends and family for their encouragement and unwavering support.

I would also like to recognize the Rehoboth Beach City Hall election managers and the board of election who worked hard to make this election run so smoothly during such difficult times.

Thank you to the Cape Gazette, CAMP Rehoboth, RBHA and the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce for coordinating forums with candidates and covering the election given the circumstances of COVID-19.

To those who encouraged and guided me during the campaign, your many contributions of time, advice, mentorship, endorsement and financial support were invaluable and motivating.

The outpouring of emails, calls, notes and texts post-election thanking me for stepping up to serve our great city has been gratifying and rewarding. Although I did not win a commissioner seat on Saturday, I will continue the important work underway on the planning commission and park, shade & tree commission.

I am confident that Stan, Jay and Patrick will work well together with our current commissioners to bring our city through the COVID-19 pandemic with a successful recovery plan to save our businesses, shops and restaurants as well as protect the health, safety and welfare of our citizens. I also know they will focus on the critical task to re-forecast a budget that is commensurate with the revenue impact our city has experienced this year and re-prioritize projects/expenses accordingly so we, as property owners, don't get burdened with higher taxes.

With the election behind us, my hope is that Rehoboth Beach citizens and voters will be more unified and accepting as a community. And, especially in these unprecedented times, positively support and encourage our municipal government leaders.

We are all in this together!

Thanks again!
