A Newark man faces theft charges after allegedly stealing a truck May 5 from a Delaware Department of Transportation parking lot in Georgetown.
Delaware State Police were called at 11:46 a.m. and learned a man, identified as Alfred Woodward, 37, had stolen a Penske rental truck from the parking lot off Dupont Boulevard, said Sgt. India Sturgis of the Delaware State Police.
Dover Police Department later located the stolen vehicle parked on South Governors Avenue with Woodward still inside the vehicle, Sturgis said. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3, where he was charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle, felony theft over $1,500, and criminal trespass. Woodward was arraigned by Justice of Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.
