The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious industrial accident that happened Aug. 24 near Lewes.
Police were called to a construction site at 4:03 p.m. in the The Governors development off Gills Neck Road after a 22-year-old construction worker was airlifted to Christiana Hospital by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.
The man was working on the second story of a home and standing on a 2-by-4 plank while installing floor joists when he lost his footing and fell about 14 feet onto a concrete slab below, Jaffe said. The man, who is from Philadelphia, was admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Jaffe said his name is being withheld at this time.
The case continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit.
