A 29-year-old Georgetown man died Feb. 19 after he was hit by a concrete truck on a Lewes construction site.
Arturo Roblero-Velasquez was working about 1 p.m. at the Governors development off Gills Neck Road as a spotter for someone working in a sewer manhole, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.
A 2016 Freightliner concrete pumper truck was stopped on Hazlett Road within the development when the truck began backing up. Jaffe said the truck driver, a 43-year-old Lewes man, did not see Roblero-Velasquez, and he did not see the truck backing up. As a result, she said, the right rear tires struck Roblero-Velasquez. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The truck driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision and he was not injured, Jaffe said.
This accident remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
