A 38-year-old Seaford man died May 19 after police say he ran off a roadway near Millsboro and struck a utility pole.
The man was driving a 2008 Hyundai Accent at 12:55 a.m. eastbound on Laurel Road just west of Curley Drive at an apparent high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a moderate left curve and drove off the north edge of the roadway into a ditch and struck a utility pole, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police. The driver and sole occupant was not properly restrained; he was ejected from the vehicle following the collision. His name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin, Jaffe said.
Laurel Road was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.
