Man faces DUI after crashing golf cart in Dagsboro, injuring woman

A Pennsylvania man faces a DUI charge after police say he crashed a golf cart May 19 in Dagsboro, injuring a woman passenger.

Thomas Rivera, 47, was driving an EZ-Go golf cart at 8:14 p.m. with a woman, 47, when he lost control of the golf cart, said Master Cpl. Michael Austin of the Delaware State Police.

The cart crashed on Tuckahoe Trail near Sitting Bull Trail in Tuckahoe Acres. Both Rivera and the woman were thrown onto the roadway, Austin said.

The woman was flown by Delaware State Police helicopter to Peninsula Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Rivera was treated at Peninsula Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.

He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and released, pending a future court appearance.
