Margaret Cecilia Joyce Atkins was received by her Lord and Savior Thursday May 21, 2026, in Salisbury, Md. Margaret, known as Sue by her friends and family for the majority of her life, was a force of nature.
She was born in Wilmington Dec. 7, 1940, daughter of Christine Burton and William Duggan. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and William Duggan. She is survived by her husband, Frank L. Atkins; brother, John M. Burton Jr. and his wife Jane; and sister, Marie Fox. She is also survived by her daughter, Kathy Ruark and her husband Richard; her son, Ronnie Brobst; her son, David Brobst and wife Shelly; her son, Michael L. Atkins and wife Cassie; and her daughter, Crystal L. Van Brunt and husband Tim. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, whom she truly adored.
Sue was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She was loving and dedicated to her family. Her presence was known and felt when near. Sue was steadfast in her beliefs and dedicated in her personal and professional life. She was a graduate of Millsboro High School Class of 1959.
She built her life in Sussex County, where she and her husband, Frank, resided in Dagsboro, and where she raised her family.
Sue spent 25-plus years in corporate banking with First Omni Bank, then Allfirst in Millsboro. Before that, she spent many years with NCR in Millsboro. During her professional career, she made numerous lifelong friends and has carried those relationships throughout her life.
After retirement, she spent several years in Arkansas with her family, where she accepted salvation at Harvest Time Church.
In her final years, she relocated back to Delmarva to be with family.
Her final resting place will be Spring Hill Memorial Garden in Hebron, Md.
