Marilyn Rae Stevenson, 82, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully in her daughter’s arms at Christiana Hospital in Newark Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018.

Marilyn was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Georgetown.  She loved singing, cooking, baking, crocheting, knitting, reading suspense novels and talking politics.  She also loved being outside and gardening, but most of all spending time with her family.

Before settling into retirement, she worked many years as a legal secretary for Tunnell & Raysor, and ended in The Delaware Superior Court in Georgetown. She valued a hard work ethic and prided herself in her career.

She instilled an unconditional love for her children and strong faith. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Jesse Wells; her son Jim Wells; and her daughter Kelly O’Neal; as well as her second husband George E.D. Stevenson; and her mother Evelyn Molloy.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Wayne Wells and Cassie Reed; eight grandchildren, Shane Wells, Justin Moore, Blake Moore, Aaron Wells, Krista Fluharty, Tyler Reed, Nathan Reed and Owen Reed; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown.  In lieu of flowers we ask that you take a moment to hug someone close to your heart, enjoy the simple things in life, and find something in each day that makes you happy, as you never know when your time on this earth is done.
