Marjorie ‘Marge’ Kiefer Romine, proud veteran

Marjorie "Marge" Allene Kiefer Romine passed away peacefully in her sleep at Carolina Inn in Fayetteville, N.C., Monday, Dec. 24, 2018.  She was born in Oklahoma to Julius George Kiefer and Helen Inez Allen Kiefer, and grew up in the Depression era in Kansas.

Marge was a proud veteran of the Navy in World War II. She served as a pharmacist mate where she met her future husband, John T. Romine. She worked as a microbiologist at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.,  until her retirement. Her interests included singing, especially Irish music, and doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters: Frances R. Kelly and Janis S. Stone; a sister, Helen Frances Kiefer Fowler; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m.  Marge will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro following the services at 1 p.m.

The family would like to thank those at Carolina Inn and Hospice for the excellent care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, Marge requested that donations be made to support your local veterans organizations.
