From the mayor: Dewey Beach Strong!

February 9, 2018

The New Year has begun and there is great progress in the Town of Dewey.

We are proud to report our police department, beach patrol and town administration have been very cooperative with providing detailed information as it relates to our goal to review our accounting procedures.

The auditing firm TGM has been conducting interviews with key personnel for several weeks, and we are ready to broaden the audit process if the initial report show any inconsistencies as we strive for accountability and transparency.

As per my request, State Auditor of Accounts Tom Wagner agreed to review the work of TGM and also make recommendations.

Our police department has volunteered to give a public presentation, but due to an objection, their report was given by Commissioner Bauer. As with any report, there is need for additional information, and commissioners Persinger and Bauer have agreed to complete additional interviews to get the answers we all need and deserve.

Commissioner Cooke has been hard at work, with the help of the Town Hall staff, running the day-to-day business of the town and preparing all the needed notes for the Budget & Finance Committee.

Exciting news - the Town Manager Search Committee has made their recommendations and Commissioner Riordan has scheduled interviews with the candidates for the commissioners. I am hopeful that an announcement regarding our new town manager will be announced soon, and I look forward to sharing the name and bio information.

Special thanks to all those who love Dewey Beach for your patience and confidence as together we will build proper policies and procedures to take us into the future stronger than ever.

Mayor TJ Redefer
Dewey Beach
