Meet and greet with Sussex author Sandie Gerken set Dec. 10 in Selbyville

December 9, 2018

Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island will welcome Sandie Gerken, author of “Storied Sussex,” for a reading and book signing at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 10. This special event is free to the public and will be held in the community’s Lantern Room on the fourth floor.

“Storied Sussex” originated as history articles written for the local newspaper High Tide News. Now a full-length novel, it features a collection of historic events, places, traditions, industries and people that have played a key part in shaping the Sussex County people know today.

Gerken attributes her passion for history to her parents, who taught her local lore while riding through back roads in search of ancestors’ graves. These experiences, combined with growing up in Sussex County, also created a lifelong love of genealogy, which is where she is currently devoting her research.

“We are very excited to welcome Sandi Gerken to our community. Residents, staff, and visitors can connect with her local stories written about Sussex County, Delaware,” said Heather Cormack, escapades producer at Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island.

For more information or to RSVP, call 302-435-0808. Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island is at 21111 Arrington Drive, Selbyville.
