Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas) & Hau’oli Makahiki Hou (Happy New Year) from Hawaii

January 26, 2020

For the holidays, Patricia Schofield of the Reserve at Pilottown in Lewes visited her son David Schofield of Kaneohe, Hawaii. Kaneohe is on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

According to Wikipedia, In the Hawaiian language, kāne ʻohe means “bamboo man.”

According to an ancient Hawaiian story a local woman compared her husband’s cruelty to the sharp edge of cutting bamboo; thus the place was named Kāneʻohe or “Bamboo man.”

Patricia is shown here reading her Cape Gazette at Kualoa Beach Park with the islet Mokolii, commonly known as Chinaman’s Hat, in the picturesque background.
