Michael A. Beyer, cabinet maker

Michael A. Beyer, 60, of Ocean View, formerly of Gambrills, Md., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at his home.

He was born in Baltimore, Md., Aug. 30, 1959, son of the late George Robert Beyer Sr. and Patricia Kahala (Pule) Beyer. Mike was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1978-85.

Mike worked as a cabinetmaker and enjoyed working with his hands and creating beautiful pieces of woodwork. He attended church at The Crossing in Lewes and was a member of Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View.

Mike was an easygoing, kindhearted soul who lived a contented life. He loved to talk and had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. Mike loved fishing, playing tennis and spending time with those he loved. 

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 31 years, Sherry (Chesky) Creed-Beyer; six children whom he loved dearly, Jennifer Valerio (Bryan), Michael Beyer Jr. (Tera), Brian Beyer (Karie), Matthew Creed (Heather), Amanda Baker (Mike) and Matthew Beyer; and 16 grandchildren. He is also survived by his five siblings, Patricia Anderson, Carolyn Schopman, Tim Beyer, Richard Beyer and George Beyer Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family can gather beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to help defray funeral expenses to Melson Funeral Services, P.O. BOX 100, Frankford, DE 19945.
