Michael Edward Gayowski, cherished his family

December 27, 2017

Michael Edward Gayowski, 85, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at his home after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. He was born Friday, Nov. 18, 1932, in Stamford, Conn., son of the late Michael and Katherine (Stefanchuck) Gayowski.

Mr. Gayowski worked for the Department of the Army, NASA, and the Department of the Navy. He relished lab work, and was fascinated by everything space and science related. Mr. Gayowski's interests were many and varied. He loved traveling to Germany, dining on great food, reading, folk dancing, listening to music, and playing the accordion. A natural handyman, Mr. Gayowski could fix anything. He was a creative soul, and enjoyed working with stained glass. Crabbing and surf-fishing were always favorite pasttimes, as well. Above all, Mr. Gayowski cherished time spent with his wonderful family and friends; especially his adored granddaughters. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was loved by many, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Gayowski is survived by his beloved wife, Helga M. Gayowski, of Lewes; his son, Michael Joseph Gayowski (Madeline) of Urbana, Md.; his daughter, Gretchen Gayowski (Jake Dobscha) of McKinney, Texas; and his granddaughters: Laura Gayowski and Ava Gayowski.
