Michael M. Ritter, avid collector

Michael “Mike” M. Ritter, 60, of Milton was born Aug. 29, 1961, and passed away much too soon Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022.

Mike grew up in Lewes and attended school at Cape Henlopen, where he graduated in 1979. Mike worked at Melvin L. Joseph Construction Company for 25-plus years and also held many side jobs. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball and football, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and taking his father fishing or to the local racetrack in Georgetown. He was also an avid collector of model trains and toy tractors.

Mike is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debbie; his two daughters, Rebecca Roswell (Ernie) and Heather Gray (JD); and two grandsons whom he adored, Wyatt and Cole Roswell. He is also survived by his parents Frank and Janet (Heiser) Ritter; a brother, Mark (Valda) Ritter; a sister, Tracy Latham; and nephew Kyle Latham. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Frank Latham.

Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, with viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the service immediately following at Short’s Funeral Home, 416 Federal St., Milton. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery on Union Street, Milton.
