Mildred C. ‘Millie’ Goods, medical secretary

Mildred C. “Millie” Goods, formerly of the Bethany Beach area, passed away at Harrison Senior Living Home of Georgetown Monday, March 11, 2019, following eight years of illness due to a severe stroke.

She was born July 19, 1933, in Atlanta, Ga., to the late Albert B. Goods and Marie C. Beight Goods.  When Millie was 3 years old her family moved to Alexandria, Va., her father’s home of origin.  She spent her life there until 2001 when she moved to Delaware.

Millie was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, Alexandria, and Georgetown Visitation College in the District of Columbia.  Her career as a medical secretary included office management for the late Dr. Joseph Romness & Associates, orthopedic surgeons in Arlington, Va., for 40-plus years. 

She was well loved by many, having been a caring and devoted person to her family, friends and patients.  She was a person of faith and honor to her church, St. Mary’s Church in Alexandria.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by a sister, Marie Goods Flynn of Alexandria.

She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Goods Kraft; her nephews, Mike Kraft (Kathy), Peter A. Kraft (Sybille), and Christopher M. Flynn (Michele); her nieces, Donna Flynn Paulman (Charles) and Laura Flynn Purvis (Brian); six grand-nephews; seven grandnieces; two great-grandnieces; one great-grandnephew; and by her lifetime friend, Jo Ann Waggaman of Alexandria.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date at the Basilica of St. Mary, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Alexandria.

Memorial contributions may be sent in Millie’s name to the Regional Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 215, King William, VA 23086, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
