A 27-year-old Milford man who had been sought in connection with kidnapping since May 15 was charged on May 20.
Police had sought Richard D. Stratton after they say he went to a home at 1:18 p.m. in the 8000 block of Clendaniel Pond Road and pointed a handgun at several people before forcing his girlfriend into car and driving away, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.
A Gold Alert was posted for the 31-year-old girlfriend, but she was found in good condition, according to police.
At 9:15 a.m. May 20, Jaffe said, police received a tip that Stratton was driving to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle, and police found him with his vehicle in the parking lot. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with first-degree kidnapping, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, four counts of aggravated menacing, second-degree conspiracy and breach of release. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $471,000 cash only bond.
