A Milford woman is in critical condition after police say she was shot several times while driving March 31 on Route 14.

The woman, 20, was driving at 3:13 p.m. westbound on Route 14 near Sandbox Road when someone in a dark SUV crossed the double yellow line and pulled alongside her vehicle, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. The suspect then fired a gun numerous times into the woman’s vehicle before fleeing the scene. The woman was struck in her upper body by a bullet, Pepper said, and her vehicle left the roadway before coming to rest in a field. She was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where she is listed in critical condition, Pepper said.

At this time, Pepper said, police do not believe this was a random incident. This case remains an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact Det.
