Milford woman critically injured in drive-by shooting

April 1, 2021

A Milford woman is in critical condition after police say she was shot several times while driving March 31 on Route 14.

The woman, 20, was driving at 3:13 p.m. westbound on Route 14 near Sandbox Road when someone in a dark SUV crossed the double yellow line and pulled alongside her vehicle, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. The suspect then fired a gun numerous times into the woman’s vehicle before fleeing the scene. The woman was struck in her upper body by a bullet, Pepper said, and her vehicle left the roadway before coming to rest in a field. She was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where she is listed in critical condition, Pepper said.

At this time, Pepper said, police do not believe this was a random incident. This case remains an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact Det. D. Grassi with the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit by calling 302-365-8441. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.
