Millsboro man dies in one-vehicle crash on Route 24

July 18, 2019

A 67-year-old Millsboro man died following a one-vehicle crash just after 7 p.m., July 17, on Route 24.

Delaware State Police Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said a 2018 Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on Route 24, and after crossing the Love Creek bridge, the operator lost control. The vehicle crossed over the eastbound travel lane of Route 24 and left the roadway. The Wrangler ran over a raised curb, crossed through a grass yard, and struck an unoccupied residence in the 20000 block of Route 24, John J. Williams Highway, she said.

Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash and has not identified the man, pending notification of next of kin. Jaffe said the operator of the Wrangler was properly restrained and was transported to Beebe Healthcare where he later died. Preliminary reports suggest the driver may have suffered a medical incident prior to the crash, she said.
