A Milllsboro woman faces charges after police say she went to a home in Maplewood Sept. 28 and snatched a cellphone from an acquaintance before fleeing.

Dana Marie Gooner, 32, went to a home on Maplewood Drive at 3:27 p.m. and yelled as she entered an unsecured front door, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police.

Gooner was in the living room when the acquaintance, 33, approached her, Pepper said, and Gooner shoved the woman, causing her to stumble backward. Gooner then lunged at the woman and snatched the cellphone from her hand before fleeing.

Pepper said two children, 2 and 5, were in the living room and witnessed the incident. The victim and children were not injured, she said.

Dana was later contacted by Delaware State Police and charged with felony first-degree burglary, theft under $1,500, and offensive touching. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in default of $5,200 cash bond.
