Milton 8-10 all-stars to face New York Aug. 7
The Milton 8-10 all-stars will look to avenge their tournament-opening loss to New York when they face the squad from Twin Town Little League Thursday, Aug. 7, in the first elimination game of the East Regional in Cranston, R.I.
Following the 9-1 loss to New York Aug. 2, Milton dropped a close 2-1 game to New Jersey Aug. 4 in in pool play. They bounced back with a 3-2 win Aug. 5 over Washington, D.C.
In what turned out to be a pitchers’ duel Aug. 4, Milton outhit the Two Rivers East Little League squad from New Jersey 9-4. Neither team committed an error in the six-inning game.
Jaxon Kulp got the start on the mound, striking out two and walking two in three innings of work. Henry Hill took over from there, striking out four and walking two.
At the plate, Kulp and Wyatt Dean each went 3-for-3. Kulp had Milton’s lone RBI with a double in the sixth inning.
Also recording hits were Hill, Hudson Libby and Brock Davis.
Against Capitol City Little League of Washington, D.C., Milton took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, then scored the winning run in the fourth.
Jase DeLacy and Jacob Reynolds each walked to open the second inning. DeLacy advanced to third on a wild pitch, and Reynolds stole second to put two runners in scoring position. Another wild pitch allowed DeLacy to score and move Reynolds to third. Libby laid down a bunt to third base, allowing Reynolds to score.
In the fourth inning, DeLacy led off the inning with a double. He advanced to third on a ground out, then scored on another ground out by Libby.
Milton held on from there, holding Washington, D.C., scoreless in their final two at bats.
DeLacy pitched 2.1 innings, allowing two runs (none earned), striking out three and walking one. Krew Johnson tossed two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three and walking one. Bryce DeLacy closed it out on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings, striking out one batter and walking two.
Collecting hits for Milton were Wyatt Dean, Henry Hill, Johnson Jase, DeLacy and Libby.
