Milton Arts Guild to hold holiday quilling class Dec. 6

December 1, 2021

A new class at Milton Arts Guild, holiday quilling with Jenn Johnson, will teach students the art of using rolled paper to make beautiful holiday creations. The class will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6.

Quilling is an ancient art of rolled, shaped and glued paper around a stiff cylinder that results in unified, decorative designs. The name “quilling” is thought to come from the origins of using birds’ quills to create the art. Johnson will walk students through two projects: a Christmas tree and a candy cane ornament. No prior art experience is necessary.

Johnson is a self-taught artist who specializes in three-dimensional work, including sacred mandala art, paper crafts and light-enhanced pieces. She is also an avid tangle (doodle) artist. A member of the Milton Arts Guild, Johnson displays her work at shows throughout Sussex County.

This class will be held in person at MAG’s new gallery at 107 Federal St. in Milton, and virtually via Zoom. The class fee is $35.

A quilling tool will be provided to students. For a complete list of other supplies and to register, go to miltonartsguild.org.
