Milton Arts Guild to host reopening reception April 30

April 26, 2021

After having its doors closed for more than a year because of COVID-19 precautions, Milton Arts Guild is poised to host a grand reopening at its Walnut Street gallery with its Celebration art exhibit and spring fling market.

The gallery reopening will kick off  at 3 p.m., Friday, April 30, followed at 5 p.m. by an opening reception to be attended by local dignitaries, MAG artists and members of the public. Festivities will continue at the gallery from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2.

The market will feature arts and crafts from more than 15 MAG artist-vendors. The Celebration exhibit presents artwork created by guild members while they sheltered at home during the past year.

The gallery has been closed since March 2020 with the exception of the guild’s holiday market held for three weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Following strict COVID-19 precautions, the market hosted more than 350 people eager to get out and enjoy some holiday spirit and purchase unique seasonal gifts.

Throughout the pandemic, Milton Arts Guild has reached 170 students through more than 30 virtual classes in watercolor, drawing, acrylic, oil, pastel, mandala, jewelry, paper beads and paper flowers. These classes have kept its art community close, and introduced MAG to scores of students from all over the country including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Connecticut and Florida, and even an international student in India. These specialty classes complement MAG’s 12 months of biweekly Zoomdoodle drop-in classes.

“At long last, we will reopen with our Celebration show and our spring fling market. We are beyond excited,” said Sue Dutton, president of Milton Arts Guild board of directors. “We have learned a lot during the pandemic, and while we are so pleased to have expanded our reach and our membership beyond Milton through our online presence, we are reminded how much we value the partnerships and relationships we have with Milton.”

Following the grand reopening weekend, Milton Arts Guild will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday to Sunday.
