Milton Arts Guild monthly kids’ classes to start Jan. 20

January 4, 2024

Milton Arts Guild announced it will offer monthly classes for youngsters in fifth through eighth grade, providing them with guided instruction in a variety of media.

Two-hour classes will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., the third Saturday of each month at Studios on Walnut, 310 Walnut St., Milton.

The classes will be taught by MAG member and veteran public school art teacher Karen Letonoff, who is currently the art teacher at Woodbridge Early Childhood Education Center in Greenwood.

The first class is Jan. 20, Pink Eraser Prints, where kids will create their own pink eraser block prints on trading cards, or as a notecard or piece of art. The Feb. 17 session on Abstract Watercolor Painting will teach students about watercolor techniques and paints while they create their own one-of-a-kind abstract watercolor. In Oil Pastel Sunset Reflection March 16, kids will learn techniques of oil pastels while creating a scene of a beautiful sunset reflecting in a body of water. The April 20 class, Coffee Spill Art, will help kids learn about color values while creating an image from spilled coffee.

“For quite some time, members of the public have asked whether we offer ongoing classes for kids,” said Sue Dutton, Milton Arts Guild board president. “We are excited to have the opportunity to fulfill those requests with the addition of these great initial offerings taught by an inspired teacher like Karen.”

Classes cost $35 each including supplies, and are offered on an à la carte basis.  To register, go to miltonartsguild.org.
