Milton defeats Lewes/Rehoboth to set up winner-take-all championship

The Milton Major All-Stars had to win July 21 against Lewes/Rehoboth to set up a winner-take-all game for the District 3 title. And win they did, with an 11-2 victory over their favored opponents.

Milton garnered 10 hits in the game. Dominic Mangini went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. Aaden Johnson went 2-for-3 with a single, a double, a sac fly and three RBIs with a run scored. Mason Glover went 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Trizton Willey went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Ryan Coulbourne and Joe Ruark each had a hit. Ruark and Coulbourne had two stolen bases.

Mangini pitched 5.1 innings, giving up five hits and two runs while striking out six batters. Liam Mitchell came in to finish the game with a strikeout. 

The Lewes/Rehoboth squad garnered six hits in the game. Jack Simeone went 1-for-1 with a home run. Nick Clampitt went 3-for-3. Carter Staggs and Anthony Brittingham each had a hit.

Clampitt struck out six Milton batters.

The Milton squad lost its first game 2-0 against Lower Sussex July 15 to move to the bottom bracket, but has clawed its way back into the championship hunt. They defeated Millsboro 9-5 and Georgetown 11-3 before meeting Lewes in the first championship game. A game against Lower Sussex was canceled. 

Lewes/Rehoboth defeated Woodbridge 11-1, Georgetown 9-1 and Lower Sussex 12-1.

The winner-take-all game is tonight at 7 p.m. in Georgetown.
