Milton Elementary FAME students enjoy health and safety day

August 1, 2019

Milton Elementary Summer FAME students enjoyed a day full of presentations and activities at their health and safety day July 19.

Students spent two hours rotating through 10 stations, learning about local organizations that help keep them safe and healthy.

Delaware State Police had a member of its scuba unit and bomb squad attend. Students got to see real scuba equipment used by the divers, as well as the explosive ordnance disposal truck and robotic equipment used to detect and detonate explosives.

Representatives from Milton Fire Department with Ladder 84, Milton Police Department, Food Bank of Delaware, and the fire school and fire marshal’s office were also in attendance and shared valuable information with the students about their organization.

Beebe Trauma and Emergency Safe Kids Delaware representatives shared ways students can stay safe while biking and walking along busy roads, and CrossFit Lewes had students up and moving around with a quick workout they could do throughout the summer months to stay active. During one of the rotations, students also were able to get their picture taken with DelDOT’s Wally the Workzone Warrior.
