Milton family paints signs of hope

Out of work, not in school but maintaining a positive attitude during COVID-19 crisis
April 8, 2020

Feeling down about the current COVID-19 crisis, Meesh Rhodes of Milton decided to do something about it.

Taking a cue from her son, Jojo Blondin, who was building a doghouse out of fence slats from their garage, she got an idea to paint signs with one simple word, but with a world of meaning – HOPE.

Initially, the plan was to construct one sign for their yard on Federal Street. “Others saw it on Facebook and starting asking for one,” she said.

She, her son Jojo – who recently celebrated his 13th birthday – and husband, Sean, plan to make as many as 30 signs, or until their wood and paint run out.

Rhodes said she and her family practice strict social distancing and are using materials on hand without going to the store for more supplies.

They are also placing signs around town to spread a message of hope.

Because Tough Luck Tattoo near Lewes is considered a nonessential business, the couple is out of work. Meesh is manager of the shop, and Sean has been a tattoo artist for 18 years.
