Milton Farmers Market to open Fridays through Oct. 4
The Milton Farmers Market is ready to connect customers interested in eating locally sourced food with vendors and farmers who can put the freshest produce, baked treats and home-canned ingredients on any table.
The market will be open from 3 to 6 p.m., Fridays, on the grounds of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, 6 Village Center Blvd., Milton. New this year will be space for nonprofits to connect with market customers. The 2019 Milton Farmers Market season will run through Friday, Oct. 4.
At the market, 20 vendors will sell everything from locally raised fruits and vegetables to homemade pastries, artisanal soaps, organic meats, wild-caught salmon, kettle corn and fudge. Most vendors at the market accept credit cards in addition to cash. There is free parking at the market, and Slo & Lo BBQ will serve delicious meals this season.
Milton Farmers Market also features live music each week, with a rotating selection of talented, eclectic performers taking the stage. Zach Coffman will command the microphone May 3. Flamenco, blues, soul and funk bands are on tap for the rest of the season.
Sprinkled throughout the market season are four festivals celebrating produce grown and enjoyed in Sussex County. The Asparagus Festival is May 10; a Peach Festival falls July 19; special activities will mark National Farmers Market Week Aug. 9, and pumpkins will take center stage at Oktoberfest Oct. 4, the last market day of the 2019 season.
Before market season began, the Milton Farmers Market donated $1,000 to the Milton Community Food Pantry, sending resources to an organization that helped feed more than 12,000 people last year.
