Milton Historical Society to celebrate volunteers May 7
The Milton Historical Society will host its annual spring dinner from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, at the recently opened Gilligan’s Bar and Grill, 200 Broadkill Road, Milton.
The event recognizes the volunteers who power and empower the organization and its mission. Tickets are $30 per person which includes a choice of chicken, fish or pasta, and a Sussex County dessert staple, pretzel salad. A cash bar will be available, and seating is limited. To purchase tickets, go to www.HistoricMilton.org or call 302-684-1010.
“We are very fortunate to have so many talented and dedicated volunteers. From docent duty to yard work, our volunteers rock,” said Director Mary Knight. “Volunteers donate over 1,500 man-hours a year at the museum, which helps us to keep our operating costs down. We could not run the museum without their help, and this night is a small way for us to recognize and thank our volunteers who do so much for the museum.”
Along with a new venue for the dinner this year, there will be live music by local performer Al Frantic, and a silent auction. A special surprise award will also be presented. Sponsors include Dogfish Head, Lavender Fields, and Dave Carey & Becky Geiger.
For information about becoming a sponsor or donating an item for the silent auction, contact the museum at 302-684-1010.
The Lydia B. Cannon Museum, at 204 Union St., Milton is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, and by appointment.
