Milton Historical Society offers Second Saturday Serenades May 11

May 7, 2019

The Milton Historical Society is excited to once again present Second Saturday Serenades, part of the Melodies at the Museum program Saturday, May 11. Paul Cullen of Paul’s Kitchen and Cullen-ary Company will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering samples, a pop-up market, and sausage sandwiches for purchase.

In addition to Paul’s Kitchen will be the Ice Cream Lady for those desiring something sweet. Other activities include children’s crafts, an exhibit by the Milton Arts Guild, weaving on an Inkle Loom and a Rigid Heddle Loom will be demonstrated.

Music-on-tap will be the Acme Anvil Company. Hailing from Dover, their unique style offers a bit of laughter in between songs. Each month the museum will feature a different genre of some of the area’s best performers. Beer and wine donated by Dogfish Head Brewery and Oak Creek Wines & Spirits will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to support MHS programs.

Although admission to the museum is free, attendees are encouraged to bring a donation of canned goods and toiletries such as shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc. to all Second Saturday events. MHS is collecting these supplies for the Milton Community Food Pantry, assisting those in need in Milton.

Director Mary Knight says, “Second Saturdays are really starting to pick up some steam. With the addition of more children’s activities at the museum, we are hoping to see more people flock into our town and see all that Milton has to offer.”

As always, guests will have the opportunity to become an MHS member at all Second Saturday events. Membership includes free admission to select lectures, an invitation to the annual open house and advance notice of all upcoming events. Memberships may also be purchased online at www.HistoricMilton.org.

The Lydia B. Cannon Museum, located at 204 Union St., Milton is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, and by appointment. For more information on programs or to become a member or sponsor, visit www.historicmilton.org, or call 302-684-1010.
