Milton Major All-Stars stay alive in District 3 tournament

After opening with loss, Milton bounces back with two wins

The Milton Major All-Stars stayed alive in the District 3 tournament July 18 with an 11-3 win over Georgetown in the lower bracket.

After losing the first game of the tournament 2-0 to Lower Sussex, Milton has bounced back with wins over Millsboro and Georgetown. 

They were set to face Laurel July 19 in Milton.

Against Georgetown, Liam Mitchell recorded four hits and two RBIs, while Aaden Johnson collected three hits and two RBIs. Trig Joseph connected for two hits and an RBI. Trizton Willey and Harper Kaser each added two RBIs. Mason Glover had a hit and an RBI, while Trey Dickinson added two hits. 

Trig Joseph started the game and got the win, going three innings, allowing three hits and one run along with two strikeouts. Relief pitcher Liam Mitchell pitched 2.2 innings, recording four strikeouts. 

Georgetown’s Colin Taylor collected two hits, including a homer. Cameron Smith, Jace Troxler, Thomas Klosiewicz and Zach Parker each had a hit. 

You couldn’t get a much closer game than Milton’s tournament-opening loss to Lower Sussex. Both teams garnered four hits in the game. Starting pitchers Joe Ruark from Milton and Landen Erbe from Lower Sussex were in control of their pitches, each striking out five opposing batters and allowing three walks in the four innings they pitched.

The game was in a scoreless tie until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Lower Sussex’s Max Starkey slammed a double to drive in the winning run and an insurance run.

Milton’s Trizton Willey went 2-for-3 in the game, while teammates Mason Glover and Aaden Johnson each had a hit.

Starkey went 2-for-3 with a double for Lower Sussex, while teammates Dominic Marinelli and Max Williamson each delivered with a hit.

Erbe took the win for Lower Sussex and teammate Jordan Workman picked up the save.

Milton’s Dominic Mangini came in from the bullpen and struck out one Lower Sussex batter.
