Milton Theatre to expand matinee offerings

The Milton Theatre has a little something for everyone. In fact, the diversity of shows includes the times they start. Throughout the fall and winter, the theatre will have a number of matinee shows scheduled for early birds, ranging from movie screenings to magic shows to hit comedy specials and musical groups. These shows provide the perfect opportunity to bring family and friends for an entertaining afternoon at the Milton Theatre.

The Ultimate Robin Williams Experience will be held at 2 and 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22. This is more than just a comedy show, as Roger Kabler transforms into Robin Williams before the audience members’ eyes to perform all of Williams’ greatest routines, scenes and hits. 

“Assisted Living: The Musical” will be held at 2 and 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29. This hilarious show follows 18 different characters, all played by only two performers, exploring their lives at the Pelican Roost Retirement Home.

Delmarva Big Band will play at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7, featuring traditional and modern big band music for aficionados of all ages will enjoy. “Abbamania” will be held at 2 and 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14.

Trick Trio will feature teenage magicians Ben Zabin, Trent James and David Rosenstein at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16. The Celtic Christmas show will kick off the holiday season at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25. Performed by local musical group Fellow Travelers, this show is sure to entertain.

December will bring with it some of the best shows of the year starting with the return of “Assisted Living The Musical: The Home for the Holidays” at 2 and 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1.  WIth all the same characters and the original cast, this show will surely be another hit. The Bluegrass Nutcracker will debut on the Milton Theatre stage featuring all of the favorite Nutcracker songs with an interesting bluegrass twist at 2 and 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8.

The returning special Streisand & Sinatra Holiday Show will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14. The Capital Ringers Holiday Handbell Show will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15. These performers showcase their incredible talent as they perform all the favorite holiday songs using handbells, percussion and plenty of humor. The Milton Theatre will host a holiday tea for the whole family Sunday, Dec. 16. Guests will join their favorite characters like Elsa, the Grinch, and a host of others for an interactive show for the whole family.

December will also welcome the return of the incredible Scott Mason for One Dame Christmahanukwanzaka  at 1 and 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21. This holiday rendition of a crowd favorite will be sure to sell out fast.

The Rising, a Trans-Siberian Orchestra holiday musical tribute, will be held at 3 and 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22.
