Milton Theatre Quayside outdoor venue to open in August

Concert For A Random Soldier set Aug. 18

The Milton Theatre recently announced it has acquired the adjacent empty lot on Union Street along the Broadkill River. It will create a dynamic outdoor events space that is set to influence the look and feel of downtown Milton.

Called the Milton Theatre Quayside (pronounced kee-side), the space will add to a growing list of public areas where people can enjoy outdoor performances and various events. “Quay,” which means “a platform lying alongside water for loading and unloading ships,” has been incorporated into the name as a tribute to the town’s shipbuilding history.

Milton Theatre Quayside will add more diversity to what is already a full calendar of events for the Milton Theatre.

“We’ve dreamed of acquiring this property since we opened and have been imagining what kinds of unique events we can do, and it’s finally here! It’s going to be a great place for people to hang out, meet their neighbors, and enjoy performances and art in an inspiring outdoor setting,” said JP Lacap, Milton Theatre marketing director.

Concert For A Random Soldier, hosted by the Chad Clifton Foundation, will be the venue’s first event, set for Sunday, Aug. 18.  The event will feature several bands, food trucks and vendors, and will benefit Guitars For Vets and the Milton Theatre.

Milton Theatre Quayside is located next to the Milton Theatre at 110 Union St., Milton. For more information, go to www.miltontheatre.com.
